When to Call

When to Call Us About Flood Cleanup

  • After a property has been affected by external flooding (river, surface water, storm)
  • When silt, mud, and contaminated water have entered a building
  • Following an internal water escape (burst pipe, dishwasher, washing machine) where the water has spread
  • Before redecoration where the underlying structure needs to be confirmed dry and clean
Our Approach

Our Approach

Flood decontamination starts with extraction and removal. We use industrial wet vacs and pumps for standing water; saturated carpet, underlay, and contaminated plasterboard typically need removing. Surfaces are then washed down to remove silt, cleaned, and disinfected with hospital-grade chemicals. Air movers and dehumidifiers run to dry the structure — drying time varies from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on materials and severity. Mould prevention is built into the process: dry-down + disinfection.

The Process

What to Expect

  1. STEP 01 Phone enquiry — describe the flood source, volume, and when it occurred
  2. STEP 02 On-site assessment with moisture readings to map the spread
  3. STEP 03 Written quote covering extraction, removal of saturated materials, disinfection, and drying
  4. STEP 04 On-site work — typical 3-14 days depending on severity
  5. STEP 05 Drying-complete sign-off with moisture readings; mould prevention advice
Common Questions

Common Questions About Flood Cleanup

How long does drying actually take?
Light internal escape: 3-5 days. Heavy external flood with saturated materials: 10-14 days. The structure must be dry before decoration starts — wet decoration causes mould.
What's the chance of mould?
Significantly reduced if structure is dried thoroughly within the first week, and disinfectant is applied during the drying process. We use moisture meters to confirm drying is complete before sign-off.
Can you work alongside my insurer's loss adjuster?
Yes — we provide quotes, photos, moisture readings, and method statements that loss adjusters commonly use. We don't direct-bill insurers, but our documentation supports your claim.
Is this different from sewage backup?
Yes. Sewage backup is contaminated water (faecal bacteria, pathogens) — needs hospital-grade decontamination plus drying. Internal water escape (burst pipe, appliance leak) is clean water that's still caused damage — disinfection is lighter but structural drying is just as important.
How does the structural drying work?
We use industrial air movers (high-velocity fans) to push air across wet surfaces and dehumidifiers to extract moisture from the air. Moisture meters confirm when materials have reached safe levels. Drying typical 3-14 days depending on materials and severity.
Do I need to claim on insurance?
Most home insurance policies cover escape-of-water damage; many commercial policies too. We provide quotes, photos, and moisture readings that loss adjusters commonly use for claims. We don't direct-bill — you submit through your usual route.
Do you handle roof leak water damage?
Yes — for the cleanup side. The roof itself needs a roofer to fix the leak first; once that's done, we handle the water-damage cleanup: extraction of any pooled water, removal of saturated insulation or plasterboard, structural drying with air movers and dehumidifiers, hospital-grade disinfection if contamination is present. Insurance-claim documentation provided.
What about a ceiling leak from the flat above?
Common scenario in HMOs and blocks of flats. Same approach: cleanup, drying, mould prevention. We coordinate with the property manager or insurer where the leak originates from a different unit. Documentation supports both your claim (if you're the affected unit) and the source-unit's repair process.
