Mould Remediation in Manchester

Identification and safe removal of harmful mould spores — including water-damage-related mould.

Service Overview

Service Overview

We treat black mould and other fungal infestations, removing the growth and treating the air to remove spores. Full mould remediation, mould cleaning, and mould damage restoration scope — including water-damage-related mould removal as a downstream step after flood / leak cleanup.

Why Choose Prestige?

Safety Warning

Biohazards related to mould remediation can pose serious health risks. Do not attempt to clean this yourself without proper PPE and training.

When to Call

When to Call Us About Mould Remediation

  • When black or coloured mould has spread across walls, ceilings, or behind furniture
  • After a damp event (flood, leak, condensation) where mould is now visible
  • When household members are reporting respiratory or allergy symptoms in a damp property
  • Before redecoration of an affected area where the mould must be removed first
Our Approach

Our Approach

Mould remediation is removal plus moisture control. We arrive in respirators and PPE, contain the affected area to prevent spore spread, and use HEPA-grade vacuum filtration to capture airborne spores. Visible mould is removed mechanically (scrubbing, sometimes with mild abrasion). Surfaces are then treated with anti-mould biocides and air-treated with thermal fogging. Critical: mould returns if the moisture source isn't fixed. We'll identify the moisture cause at site visit and flag it; remediation only works if you address the source separately.

The Process

What to Expect

  1. STEP 01 Phone enquiry — describe the affected area and any history (damp, flood, ventilation)
  2. STEP 02 Site visit including moisture readings to identify the cause
  3. STEP 03 Written quote covering containment, removal, biocide treatment, and air clearance
  4. STEP 04 On-site work — typical 1-3 days depending on the area affected
  5. STEP 05 Sign-off with photos and a clear note on the moisture source that needs addressing
Common Questions

Common Questions About Mould Remediation

Will the mould come back?
Only if the moisture source isn't fixed. We identify the cause at site visit (often condensation, leak, rising damp) and flag it. Without source-fix, even a perfect remediation will see regrowth in 3-12 months.
Is black mould dangerous?
It can be — especially for asthmatics, allergy sufferers, infants, and immune-compromised residents. The NHS publishes guidance on damp and mould health risks. Removal reduces the spore load; ventilation and source-fix prevent regrowth.
What about behind walls?
If mould has reached behind plasterboard or under flooring, we'll need to make access cuts to remove it properly. Surface treatment alone won't reach embedded growth. Discussed at quote stage.
Do you remove black mould specifically?
Yes. Black mould (Stachybotrys chartarum) is one of the more concerning species — we use HEPA-grade vacuum filtration to capture spores during removal, mechanical scrubbing to clear visible growth, and anti-mould biocides on the cleaned surface. Source-fix is critical: black mould returns within months without addressing the moisture cause.
What about damp / condensation mould — is it different?
The cleaning approach is similar but the source-fix differs. Damp / condensation mould is driven by ventilation and humidity — addressing it long-term needs ventilation work or a dehumidifier programme rather than just remediation. We'll flag the cause at site visit; remediation alone won't stop it returning.
Do you treat post-flood mould?
Yes. Post-flood mould is the secondary problem after sewage backup or flood decontamination — we usually catch it at the structural-drying stage. If you've already had flood remediation but mould has emerged afterwards, we can come in for the targeted treatment.
Can you treat the air, not just the visible mould?
Yes. After visible-mould removal we can run thermal fogging and HEPA-grade air filtration to capture airborne spores. This is particularly important for asthmatic, allergy-sensitive, or immune-compromised residents.
